Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles with antimicrobial and anticancer properties using two novel yeasts

Abstract AgNPs are nanomaterials with many potential biomedical applications. In this study, the two novel yeast strains HX-YS and LPP-12Y capable of producing biological silver nanoparticles were isolated. Sequencing ribosomal DNA-ITS fragments, as well partial D1/D2 regions 26S rDNA indicated that related to species from genus Metschnikowia . The BioAgNPs produced by at pH 5.0–6.0 26 °C ranged in size 50 500 nm. antibacterial activities against five pathogenic bacteria determined. highest effect was observed on P. aeruginosa , additional obvious effects E. coli ATCC8099 S. aureus ATCC10231. Additionally, showed antiproliferative lung cancer cell lines H1975 A579, low toxicity Beas 2B normal cells. Therefore, biosynthesized may have applications treatment bacterial infections cancer.
